Apply now for "Voice of the Cellar" contest

SOCAN members and other performing songwriters in British Columbia are invited to apply now to the Voice of the Cellar contest, presented by Music BC and The Cellar Nightclub in Vancouver.

The aim of the contest is to develop B.C. songwriters who are also performing as artists. Eighteen artists will be chosen from the applicants to perform at a series of indie showcases hosted by The Cellar. The group will be narrowed down to six for the semi-finals, and then three for the finals. The top three artists will be judged during the evening of the finale, and their ranking will determine the prizing.

The prizes are $5,000 for first place, $3,000 for second, and $2,000 for third. Artists must be residents of B.C. and Music BC members to apply. The deadline for application is May 11, 2012, at 5:00 p.m. PST.
